Work at height — preventing falls

The Work at Height Regulations 2005 require dutyholders to avoid work at height where they can, and to prevent falls where they cannot.

Summary only — not legal advice. Check the official sources below.

Work at height means work in any place where a fall could cause injury — including below ground level.

Plan the work, use the right equipment, train people, and inspect equipment. Avoid fragile surfaces.

A risk assessment and a method that prefers collective protection over PPE alone are the normal approach.

Check HSE’s work-at-height topic pages for ladders, scaffolds and MEWPs.

How Pure Safety helps

Pure Safety can hold an observation or incident and the actions that close it out. Work-at-height permit screens are not a shipping product feature in the current Safety trial.
